Major General John Kendall VR DL
Major General John Kendall has a long association with youth and local military service. John was first engaged with the Lieutenancy as a Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet in his teens. He has been the County Chair for the South East Reserve Forces Association and is a former scout, Air Cadet and Army Reservist in the County.
He is currently the Deputy Commander of the Field Army but started his service in the Berkshire Yeomanry as a Signaller. As a Reservists, John has worked on overseas operations in the Balkans and Afghanistan, IT and communications, training, attended the Royal College of Defence Studies, and the Army’s relationship with society. In civilian life he is a Senior Research Fellow and advises companies focussed on strategic issues. He has a background in technology.
John is the MOD Champion and Ally to the Defence Hindu and Sikh Networks respectively and has interest in inter-faith and community relations. He has worked with these networks in the UK, US, Canada and Pakistan to promote cohesion through shared heritage. John also engages with the Faith in Leadership programme which seeks to improve discourse between groups.
John is married with two school age children and lives in Berkshire. His interests include history, films, and futures.
