Sean Taylor DL represented the Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire at Reading Water Fest, the annual celebration of Reading’s waterways, heritage and community life.
Now in its 37th year, Water Fest brings together residents, visitors, boaters, community organisations, charities, performers and local businesses in and around Forbury Gardens, Reading Abbey Ruins, Chestnut Walk and Riverside Walk. The event celebrates the Kennet and Avon Canal and Reading’s long connection with its rivers and waterways, while also offering a lively programme of entertainment, activities, stalls and opportunities for families to enjoy the town centre.
This year’s festival also highlighted environmental awareness and the importance of protecting Reading’s waterways for future generations. Alongside the painted boats and waterside activities, the event reflected the contribution made by volunteers, local groups and partner organisations in sustaining both the canal heritage and the wider civic life of the town.
The Lieutenancy is grateful to Reading Borough Council, the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust, participating organisations, volunteers and all those who helped make Water Fest such a successful celebration.
