Every year, Crowthorne Parish Council takes part in Age UK’s national Silver Sunday initiative by hosting a free and fun event for older people in the community.
This year’s celebration took the form of a traditional afternoon tea for around 80 guests at the Morgan Centre, with live entertainment from a local singer, a free raffle, and plenty of volunteers ensuring that tea cups were always full.
The Lord-Lieutenant, Mr Andrew Try, joined the festivities, and, in what is probably a Berkshire first – his hat was even pressed into service to hold the raffle tickets!
Events like this continue to highlight the warmth, connection and community spirit that make Berkshire such a special place to live.
