The Berkshire Lieutenancy celebrated the publication of The Lord-Lieutenants of Berkshire, 1545 – 2023 at a launch event held at the Royal Berkshire Archives on Monday 13 May. 

The book, written by Dr Peter Durrant MBE DL, traces the story of the Lieutenancy in Berkshire, from the tumultuous days of the Tudors concluding with a description of the work of the Lieutenancy today, and brief biographies of the 41 men and one woman who have held the post of Lord-Lieutenant of Berkshire. It’s an absolutely fascinating read.
