Swearing-in of the new High Sheriff for Berkshire

Sean Taylor DL has been sworn in as the new High Sheriff of Berkshire 2025-26. Alexander Barfield handed over the role at a Swearing-in Ceremony held at Reading Crown Court on Friday 11 April.

The office of High Sheriff is the oldest secular office in the United Kingdom, after the Crown, and dates back to Saxon times. The appointment of High Sheriff is for 12 months.
